community-led solutions to the housing crisis

In the wake of the Regina Road housing scandal, we set up ‘Community-Led Solutions’, a forum where organisations and groups in Croydon could organise together to both hold institutions of power to account for their failures, and to work collaboratively with other community groups and organisations to find solutions to the housing and homelessness crisis as it manifests in Croydon.  The forum meets bi-monthly. The forum are currently working on challenging the closure of Access Croydon, the borough’s drop-in service for

Croydon youth

We regularly run social justice workshops with young people in order to ensure that their voices are heard in decision making, and the issues they care about are taken seriously by those in positions of authority.

This year we worked with Reaching Higher’s Lits and Forerunners groups to build a campaign to elevate the voices of young people, sharing their views with those in positions of power. With a focus on how young people felt treated at school, the group created a film designed to help teachers understand the reality of being a school kid in Croydon, and how their disciplinary procedures can have negative knock on effects.

housing and homelessness drop in

Every Thursday we team up with other organisations to hold a housing information and advice drop-in for residents who need support. Along with the Croydon Council local tenancy team, Debt2Day3Tomorrow also provide debt and benefits advice and South West London Law Centre provide support from their paralegals once per month. Our team of volunteers also provide information and signposting on the day.

On the first Thursday of every month South West London Law Centres run their Temporary Accommodation Action Group
